Axe Spirit quest....menu at the end???

Ok, i finished the japanese download quest "Axe Spirit", and when you talk to the client, he gives you a menu with 4 choices. Does this determine what prize he will give you, and if so what does each one mean???

I picked the third one down, and I am pretty sure that he gave me a fire rod. Not 100% sure, because I may have picked it up along the quest, but I don't remember tekking a rod, AND it was at the bottom of my items list after the quest.

First off: what's the point of these quests, and what info can you give about playing them? Can you use the weapons you earn in the Japenese setting on an american server? And what is your assignment?
