zwandude15 took my first suggestion. My third would have been the printing press, tied with the internet - which are both already taken.
So I guess my favorite would be reasoning, developed by the Greeks. Deductive reasoning popularized by Aristotle which revolutionized math - and inductive reasoning which revolutionized science was popularized by Galileo. A subset of these being the Scientific Method - developed by Ibn Al-Haytham.
Anybody can have a functioning brain, just like anybody can make noises. You have to learn how to speak, and you have to learn how to think. Those men greatly helped us learn how to think.
Also... telescopes are pretty fucking cool. From cheapie kids telescopes to the Hubble... they've answered more about who we are and why were here in the last 100 years than all the philosophy or religions in the last several 1,000 years. I think they were invented by Hans Lipperhey.
