Default Questions about how stats work, classes, etc.

So with a very superficial understanding of the game my first character choice was beast braver. Then I found out more information, and things are definitely not black and white with this title. Which I'm happy about, it's about time we get a more complex character system.

With that said, I have a few questions to decide kinda what I want to do...

    1. You can change your class right? Your force character isn't stuck a force, correct?

    2. ATA now effects the strength of long range weapons... is the damage entirely dependent on this stat?

    3. The reason why I ask is I'm toying with the idea of a newman ranger...very much what looks like a glass cannon with that high PP stat. How good of an idea is this? It seems kinda solid...

    4. Can someone explain, or provide a site that goes into more clear specifics as to how the weapon selection works? If I wanted to create say a sword using force, how hard is this to do?

    5. Just how much freedom do you have weapon selection wise with the Braver class? I understand its easier for them to obtain s ranks and seem to be the class if you want to toy around with hybreds. What are the weapons a braver naturally does well with?

    6. How do classes effect stats out of curiosity?

    7. Is it true there are more race/gender specific clothing?

    8. Other than ATA, is it just me or did casts really get screwed in this game? Do they have some other redeeming quality like better traps? The new PP system hurts them, as does the addition of mirage blasts taking away their unique factor...

    Thanks!

    1. You can change class at the type counter (far left counter through the blue doors), but this feature is disabled on the demo.

    2. ATA is the bigger factor in range damage, but ATP still has an effect (or TP in the case of cards, bows, and RCSMs).

    3. You really won't have much of a PP issue on Ranger since I'm having no problem as a Cast. That being said, I'd go human over Newman because human has nearly identical ATA and noticeably more ATP.

    4. Go to the type counter and choose the second option. Then select the weapon you want to upgrade/downgrade and choose the first or second option, respectively.

    5. Braver pays less to upgrade all 1-hand weapons, medium to upgrade all twin weapons, and double to upgrade everything else. Also their stats are all moderate, making them equal with all styles of attack.

    6. Hunter has higher HP, ATP, and DFP, Ranger has higher ATA and MST, Force has higher TP and MST, and Braver has higher ATA and EVP. You can easily compare them by looking at the types in the start menu (second option -> last tab).

    7. I don't know much on this.

    8. Cast did get a bit weaker, since they were considered overpowered before. However, PP isn't an issue, they still have arguably the best stats for both Hunter and Ranger, and SUVs work a lot better than Mirage Blasts just because of the Mirage Blast delay.

Thanks for your help, that answered a lot...

Just a few more questions then I'm good....

    1. Who would be doing more ranged damage, a human ranger or a newman ranger?

    2. PP is not a problem in this game, even with level 30 special attacks? My idea was having a newman ranger spamming special bullets... maybe not so good an idea eh?

    3. Okay so, does it take double or triple cost for a force to use say, a sword (not a saber)?

I don't have the demo yet...

    1. After rechecking the stats, I'd say Newman in the long run. Right now it's pretty much identical.

    2. I believe they released information saying the price of photon arts goes down as you level them up. However, if the price doesn't change, there's no way for a Cast to use the third part of the twin saber skill, and I doubt that will happen. Honestly, I do run out of PP as a RAcaseal occasionally if I spam the Power bullets, but even that's rare.

    3. Force pays 2x for swords and 1x for sabers. You can find a full list here. Run it through Google Translate to get broken English.

Cool! Hmmm...I think I may have found a case for newman ranger... longbow, uses TP and ATA to decide its damage? Either a human or a newman ranger are the only ones that can effectively use the TP based long range weapons, as they can hit the PA levels to 30. I'm almost sure some of the bulkier ranger weapons, like the laser cannon have high using PP PA's...I'm thinking my original choice may not be so bad.

Hmmmmmm. Well there's ample time to decide, as I'm waiting for the US release. Thanks for your help, and I hope other people benefited from this topic as well.

    I have a stat/class question too...

I played a Beast GT in PSU, focused on ranged damage rather than techs, and I'm concerned that I might not be able to recreate my character in PSP2 without ending up with much lower ranged damage because of the ATA factored in ranged damage.

So in short... how does ranged damage hold up for beasts in PSP2? How effective are beast rangers in general?

Beast ranger isn't a good choice at all. It might similar to newman hunter in the PSU.

basically your atp doesn't help much on your range damage (if the current calculation formula is correct, but it may not) Main of your guns damage came from ATA.

basically, you have a higher HP and ATP for melee support. (you can add melee weapon in your weapon list)

But when you use guns, you have low accuracy, do low damage, and run out of PP faster.

Ah, that is so annoying :C
I so badly wanted to make a Beast that uses range weapons, especially bows and cards. But it seems as Newmans are also a good choice now for Ranger and I can work with that!

It looks like they're turning beasts into PSU's newmans. Lowest ATA makes range useless and second lowest TP makes teching impractical. They'll only be good for meleeing, and they'll still be penalized in that with lower accuracy and less PP.

...I really hope I'm wrong and they'll be better than that in practice.

Beast still has the major advantage of not having to use a unit for a special ability. That in itself is enough to up one of their lower stats to be on-par with the next highest race. (Right now that only works with ATP and ATA since those are the only B rank units available.)

And you don't need ATA or PP to melee. By the time you have your chain high enough to use a Skill, your PP will be full. And accuracy with melee is just as exaggerated as it is in PSU, if not more. Spamming techs is the one and only time I've ever had issues with PP, especially with Grants and Megid.
