I think the Wii should get some love right about now.

Making a very advanced and detailed port of Phantasy Star Zero on it that can play with like 6 party members and have lobbies.

Also the ability to transfer you're character from PSZ by hooking up the DS would be great.

    *sigh* one can only dream.

Please Pm me if you added me so I can add you. XD

I'd like to see it on Wii too. At this point that is the highest possibility unless they make PSPo 3.

Er... it sounded more to me like he was saying it depends on the interest Phantasy Star can generate whether or not it'll appear on consoles again. PSU really screwed the pooch with the franchise is many people's books, especially following a cult classic title that - while generating the renewed interest in Phantasy Star - lost quite a bit of it's share of customers due to cheating and neglect.

I know it wouldn't be proper for him to admit it... which is probably why he dodged the question regarding "what really makes a game addictive" with a lame answer such as "network connectivity & multiplayer". The real crapper about it is, perhaps, that PSU's failure was necessary. Yuji Naka lead the PSO development... but by and large, this was the first PS project (and first online RPG) the guys at Sonic Team really worked on - and really did strike gold with PSO. They had no frame of reference on what NOT to do, and so when PSU went into development... beyond all it's other budgeting and direction problems... you had a team that wanted to take online Phantasy Star games to the next plateau, but didn't know what pitfalls to watch out for. Now, they do... and I hope they learn from it before management sticks the series back in CryoSleep with Lutz for another 1,000 (10) years.

I really hope they don't drop the storyline aspect either. PSU's storyline was clumsy and poorly implimented... but I'm glad it was there... and I'm glad PSZero has a fairly strong storyline to propel it along as well.

Feed men, and then ask of them virtue!

yeah, if they keep the anime look that they have with PSZ but keep the functionality of PSU (the lobby system but with PSO chairs and footballs, PSU's customisation for clothes and hair and both a voice chat/ventrillo system. and NO BEASTS) they will be on a winner.

I for one would love to see a new Phantasy star, preferably an online one but on a modern system. I'd prefer PC but xbox 360 will do

i do think the story aspect of PSU and PSZ have helped them, rather than picking up snippets of a basic story from messages left on the floor. and now with modern MMO's having a basic story system through missions and running themes (think WOW, early levels and the expansions all tell a story, if you want to find it out) a decent story can be put into place, with maybe even a few cut scenes like in WOW with the DK scenario and the storming of ice crown citadel.

Well, if the US release of Monster Hunter 3 does well on the Wii; I would think that would be more than enough inspiration for Sonic Team to consider a new Phantasy Star Online game.

I think MH3 would be the first true Wii online multiplayer game for a dedicated gaming audience willing to hunt stuff together. It's probably quite high in demand, on the system. Capcom just needs to localize it knowing the importance of Internet play for Western audiences. You just need someone like that to spark the market into pursuing that course. I only mentioned Capcom here, because they already made such a game and released it in Japan.

ST shouldn't be afraid to implement mini games back into the game. After all chargin into a mission and slaughtering everything can get boring. Here is some features that would prolly improve/cut out boredom:

1)More stuff in the Casino. Slots and Roulette are fun, but daddy wants his Keno, Blackjack, Poker (P-p-poker face...), and craps.
    2)Return of soccer/football!
    3)Game needs moar chainsaws...
4)Different mission objectives. Such as "Activate X unit and guard until it is fully active!", "Obtain X item and get out of the area before reinforcements arrive!", "Destroy X building", or "Get out of a certain area before time expires".

Hmm. Those are all pretty good ideas to implement, or re-implement. (Like the P-p-poker face reference, now I'm thinking South Park).

It works. Considering Monster Hunter had a few distractions, though not many. Stuff like Fishing, the cooking, mining, and planting crops for more materials. It's always nice, when an involved online game, has some fun distractions for people.

WoW recently went crazy with that. They had the usual suspects before, but with approving game mods they have, some odd new distractions made it in. There are actual modified Peggle and Bejeweled competitions and such, all within the game. The only thing a little crazy about that stuff is that it doesn't exactly fit. Yeah, they modified the games to earn achievements and such in an almost WoW character-building fashion; but popping up famed puzzle games inside the environment is definitely a big touch of breaking 4th/5th/and beyond walls.

However, mini game and/or other helpful distractions, like those mentioned, can fit right in the universe of Phantasy Star. (And to a degree, Peggle and Bejeweled work better there, too. Mainly due to the sci-fi atmosphere of the beast.)
