I believe it's the Section ID of the person who creates the room. I don't know if it switches to the next in line if "Player 1" drops out or leaves mid-way.

So say I have a yellowboze as player 2 and a pinkal as player 1 I kill everything with yellow but I'd get drops for a pinkal id?

Exactly. If you want Yellowboze drops, make the game with the Yellowboze as player 1.
Lol, I still remember back in the day when I actually believed that the npc's id had some effect on drops. Oh the so many runs with Bernie, hoping his gun would drop.
