It's a system where you add boosts to weapons. Most weapons naturally drop with boosts, say, SATK +15. Affixing lets you add those boosts to your favorite weapon. It's tedious, expensive, and not the least bit fun, and the boosts are rarely worthwhile. But, a full set of boosted armor can net you +180 attack power, so there's that.
