you'd have to figure out what the boss resistances are but as with content lately, Rod is top then Kat. Rifle is still bottom of the barrel in UH content and will continue to sit there until Sega decides to do something about the multiplier which I don't think thats going to happen anytime soon unless they buff Ph Rifle in general.

Different attacks charge gear at different rates, on top of that, there's a stacking decay on gear gain each time you hit with the same attack, just like Hero. Each damage frame for an AoE attack only counts as one hit if you hit multiple enemies with it though. On the other hand The main difference for Phantom is that detonating markers instantly resets the decay. This is part of the reason lord of thorn isn't worth getting to a high level, and why detonating level 1 markers on trash mobs can be worth while when you get the chance.
Techs in particular have really slow gear and marker gain compared to rifle and katana, especially if you aren't actually using rod's other PAs to help, but I don't know how much that would be worth it anyway.
Does rod phantom have any use for S5: calming bullet? Or is it always better to just use gunslash s5
no it doesn't, its essentially useless (even on FO) and yes GS S5
you lose 10hp, some defense and 25 atk if you go Nova but you gain 7PP, it's up to you. my opinion you should save your transfer tickets for the End Ep raid units. if you're trying to get the extra stats out of the Crit Skills on Ph, if you can't hit that 250 mark, no point in trying to inch your every way into it by swapping to another unit. honestly just stick to Liberate
