The Rappy's Night Before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the nest
Not a creature was stirring, they were all at rest.
The red boxes were put by the twigs with care
In hope that Saint Rappy would soon be there.
The Rappy chicks were nested all snug in their beds
While visions of monomates danced in their heads.
Mama Rappy in her kerchief and Pa in his cap
Had just settled in for a long Rappy Nap.
When out of the nest there arose such a clatter
Pa Rappy jumped out of bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window Pa Rappy sped.
He opened the window and stuck out his head.
All around the nest was new-fallen snow
Which gave everything outside a beautiful glow.
When what to his wondering eyes should appear
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny Hildebear.
With a little driver so pink and happy
He knew right away it must be Saint Rappy.
Faster and faster his mounts they came
He whistled and tweeted and squeaked out their names.
"Now Deva! Now Durga! Now Bhima and Pitri!
On Kama! On Kalki! On Rukmin and Savitri!
To the top of the nest! To the top of the wall!
Dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
So up to the roof the tiny Hildebear they flew
With a sleigh full of toys and Saint Rappy, too.
And then on the roof he heard some pawing.
The jingling and scratching of each little claw.
As he drew his head in and was turning around
Down the chimney landed Saint Rappy with a loud bump on the ground.
He was pink and Chubby from his head to his foot,
And his beard was all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of goodies he had flung on his back.
He looked like a Hunter opening his pack.
He was as cute and cuddly as a ferret.
His cheeks like a rose; His beak like a carrot.
The hat he wore was as red as a Christmas bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
He had a feathery face and a little round belly
That rippled when he twittered like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and cute as a jolly rappy elf
And when Pa Rappy saw him he twittered in spite of himself.
With a twinkle in his eye and a smilespread
That let Pa Rappy know he had nothing to dread.
He chirped not a word but waddled to work
And filled all the red boxes, then turned with a jerk.
He opened his wings clear up to his nose
And flapping them uselessly as up the chimney he rose.
He bounced to his sleigh to his team gave a whistle
And away they flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him squeak as he flew out of sight.
"Merry Christmas to all and a good Rappy night!"
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERY ONE!!!!
