Black screen in makeover salon

After today's update, I've been getting a black screen when loading into the Este/Makeover Salon. At first, I had the large files installed, but no other patches. I realized it was not compatible at the time and uninstalled it. Now I actually see the loading screen when trying to enter, but I get a black screen afterwards. Sound seems to play normally. I uninstalled all English patches (large, story, etc) as well as running the game through the Japanese launcher, and I still have the issue. Is anyone else having this problem?

A friend of mine is also having the same issue. How bad did Sega break things this time?

Did you run a file check after uninstalling the patches to make sure you were back to true vanilla?
