    Default Nov. 18th Blog Update + α2 drawing pre-signups

The official blog has been updated again. This time is on the second of the three revolutionary bits that are going in to PSO2: Action. Possibly the greatest amount of action for an online rpg. PSO's 10 year old combat system and the left clicking of other ARPGs of the time just won't cut it in today's world so PSO2 will have action similar to a console action game while being an online RPG. Dodging and blocking have been things that the Phantasy Star series added to it's list of actions and PSO2 adds jumping and mid-air actions. The 3rd person shooting view point is also new to PSO2. The three classes also mean three different playstyles. Hunters up close, tanking it out. Rangers at mid-range and forces, with various attack and healing techs, at long.

Of course, this is prety much stuff we all know. This blog entry, like the last one, is fluff. It does mention something that I think we all know though: there will be more weapons than the few found in the alpha. Other news in today's blog is that anybody who wants to can now sign up for the PSO2 mailing list. You can sign up here if you don't have a SEGA ID. Or you can sign up here if you already do. Everyone who signs up for the mailing list will automatically be given a chance to participate in the second alpha test. It looks like there will be another drawing for participants so just signing up doesn't mean you will get to participate. You will get entered in to a drawing to pick new participants. (from the PSO2 twitter account) Previous testers are guaranteed a spot in the second test though.

There are also a few cleaner pictures of the weapon design pics that were posted earlier.

    Swords

    Gunblades

    Wired Lances

    Assult Rifle

    Rod

If that's HUnewm's new default outfit , then YES.

Otherwise I'm sure it's a new outfit either way... that I'll be wearing.

Totally, I always go for a red/black or black/red outfit on my characters in Phantasy Star games and I must say I am loving that one.

According to the PSO2 twitter account, everyone who signs up for the PSO2 mailing list is also automatically entered in to the selection for participants for the second alpha this coming January. So, uh, do it if you haven't already.

    1. The first system seems to imply the ability to "level up" weapons, which is supported by weapons with larger blades in later pics.

    2. *Goes to sign up to the mailing list*

I think that may be refereing to weapon tiers. Saber -> Brand -> Buster, etc. That's the way it worked in the alpha at least.

Oh. Also, the link to sign up to the mailing list without a SEGA ID isn't working for me. Anyone else having this problem?

You need to create a Sega ID before you can sign up and the first link takes you to the sign-up screen.
