Scans of specific pages might be ok (example: directions section), but the entire manual is out of the question.

Indeed, but that being said, SEGA will probably make a PDF version of the manual on their website, so keep an eye out for that.

My bad, it's SOA that does that, don't think SOJ lets you download PDF manuals (don't quote me on that).

Ep, stopping right there then. Not getting banned again.

There's nothing of importance in the manual that we don't already know from trial and error. Most of it is fluff.

Don`t have the game yet, pulled screen shots from http://phantasystar.sega.jp/pszero/#. To give everyone a preview to the game. hopes this helps everyone out. Quick rough translation so sorry if my grammar isn`t perfect.

    Game Flow

    Introduction
Flie Select: If this is you`re first time playing the game you will create your own main character which you will use to progress through the game.

Mode Select: There are three modes, story in which you raise your character, wireless local play in which you can play with 2-4 people, and network which you can play with friends from all over the country.

City is where you can buy items and accept quests from the hunter`s guild counter.

Field: Is where you encounter enemies in search of items and to level up your characters. You`re goal is the teleporter to return back to the city.

    File Select, Character Create
Character select. If it is your first time, you will create your own original character in which you will be able to use in all three modes (story, wireless, network). The three classes which you can choose from are cast, human and newman. From there you can also select sex and job for a total of up to 14 different combinations. From there you can choose voice types and clothing to further customize your original character.

    Modes
Story mode is what you can play by yourself to build your character and enjoy advancing through with npc parties.
Wireless play, by connecting with orther ds`s in your proximity you can play with 2-4 players.
In network mode you can log in to play with friends from all over the country to cooperate and have fun. In this mode you are also free to play alone.

    City
Play begins from the city. The city is where item shops and preparation for adventure takes place. You can accept quests from the hunter`s guild counter and leave items in your personal storage. Head to the teleporters to embark for the field.

You can go to the fields freely with out excepting a quest in order to hunt items on your own. You can continue through the main story by accepting quests when you want to. With story mode you can select the npc`s you want to take with you after accepting a quest.

!As you advance through the story you can access additional shops which are located in a new area under the city.

    Field
By either taking a quest or going to adventure on your own, you can access the field through the teleport. There are areas such as grasslands, marshes and snowy mountains. In each area you meet different enemies with different drops.
Each area has several zones. Zones now have a feature of being randomized. Maps and enemies will be different each time you play.
Defeated enemies have a chance of dropping items. A new feature is that when all of the enemies in a zone are defeated a treasure box will appear. In multiplayer you may need to cooperate in order for a treasure box to appear. Weapons you find will have an element and photon art randomly attached to it, so finding the same weapon can have vast differences.

!During your adventure you may encounter rare enmies which may drop arare item.

    Battle System

note: for this section on the website, each section comes with a breif explanary video. if you`re interested in watching the videos, you can locate them by going to the official apanese site, selecting battle system and clicking on one of the yellow arrows to exspand the section. From there the black box with a white tiagle wil obviously be the video.

    Over view
In keeping with the tradition methods of battle systems of previous phantasy star titles, we`ve added new elements to further exspand gameplay. Your action pallet consists of 6 constomizable spaces consisting of attacks, techs, and items. There are a total of 16 weapon categories including the new release of a sheild which you can useto defend yourself. Living machines, mags, will help support you. You can attain many different effect by equiping them.

    Action Pallet
The action pallet is your own costomizable list of comands created by you basedon your game play style. only three comands appear on the screen at a time, holding the `R` button allows you to view the remaining three. We`ll take a minute to introduce the functions here.

[Note, the order i`m writing th cmands in are from up to down left to right]
    Action Commands
    -Normal attack
    -Special Attack
    - Evasion Move
    Consumable items
    -Monomate
    -Monofluid
    -Telepipe
    Techs
    -Foie
    -Barta
    -Zonde
    Traps
    -Heat Trap
    -Ice Trap
    Light trap

    !Right side video

    Basic Actions
[For this section, there`s a tab for each of the actions. The screen shot only shows the first one, but I`ll transalte all of them. Also depending on which tab you`re on the demonstartion video is different]
Normal Attack- Basic moethod of attack. By correct timing your character will perform a three hit sequence.

Evasive Move- An evasive move in which you assign to your action pallet. By use it by simultaniously pressing the button with a direction on the D pad to roll in that direction. You will be invisible for the short period of the roll, but your character suffers from a breif pause afterwards.

Technic- Techinics are this game`s equivalent of magic and consume PP. There are several effects such as healing, attacks and powerups that exists.

Charge Attack; Photon Arts- Photon arts are power attacks that can be performed with your weapon but require the consumption of pp. they can be performed by pressing the heavy attack and normal attack buttons at the same time.

Charge Attack; Technic- You can perform charged technic attacks by pressing two buttons devoted to techs at the same time. the techs will do more damage and cover a greater area at the cost of higher pp consumption.

Chain Combo- The more continuous hits you and your party member`s land; the higher your combo couter grows. Charge attack damage increases with the hit counter.

    Mags
Mags have different effects based on their parameters and add to character`s stats. Each mag can learn up to three photon blasts.
Mags have several different evolutionary paths based on how you raise them. Not only does their form change but possily sex as well. Mags don`t just hover over your character`s shoulder, there are also mags that hover around the waist.
Mag`s parameters change base on the items that you give them. It`s possible to give them prtty much any item in the game.
When a mag evolves it gains the ability to use a photon blast. Photon blasts are not only for attack, but can have several other effects as well.

    Weapons
There are 16 different weapon types, and 350 unique items. Photon arts are automatically paired with weapons when you find them, so the same weapon with a diffeent photon art can be very different. Also weapons can be stronger against certain types of monsters (for example native). Weapons can have elemental abilities, such as burn stutus effect to inflict on enemies. Grinders can be used to make weapons even stronger.

    Visual Chat

In order to cooperate online, the DS can take atvantage of the touch screen by conveying words and pictures that you draw on the screen. This is a method of communication that hasn`t been done before, we hope you`re looking forward to it.

You can save art work you draw into shortcuts to be able to use in a short period of time. Try to impress your friends with your artistic ability. You can also save and edit other people`s entries by saving them from your chat log.

Try using visual chat in story mode. NPC`s will respond to your chat and may perform different actions based on what you write.

    Additional features

    Getting into it
In Dailon City there`s a shop that allows you to customize your weapons. You have ability to sysnthesis elemental weapons, and upgrade them.
At the personal counter you can leave items, conduct trades and confirm friend codes. You can check on friends stats and ranking from the counter as well.
Extremely rare when exploring, you may encounter rare enemies or rare blocks.
Even after clearing story mode, the game still continues. You can play the agme again on hard and very hard mode.

Of all the shops in Dailon city, there`s one that shines out from the rest; the customization shop. Here you can perform two actions, elemental synthesis and upgrading.
    Elemental Sysnthesis
Items you find in the field may have attributes attached to them such as burn or freeze. Weapons initially with out these abilities can gain them by pairing them with elemental stones.
Enemies have types such as native or beast. Weapons have properties which make them superior against certain types. You can upgrade a certain type by using a grinder except, only one grinder per weapon is allowed.

Located next to the guild counter, the personal counter has several convientent funtions you can use. You can store items, save, and swtch between characters on your character slots. when engaged in wireless or online mode you can compare and exchange items you find with friends.
