well, you could have Adaptive mode, depending on the damage potential of the said party, enemy stats would adjust to always be a challenge.

El Dagans on Crack - Every mob is an El dagan with the largest power-boost tumor and triple the stats - including speed. Sound familiar, anyone?

Arks Mode

Challenges include:
May only carry half of each healing item - monomate, dimate, trimate
Same number of star atomizer
No revival - Die and you will instantly fail the mission
No partner/friend characters (player may still join you)
Creatures are much tougher with new attack patterns
Higher chances of initiating Emergency Quests (Bosses)
All Avoid Emergency Quests: number of hits is reduced to 1
One hit from those Gel barf? and lightning -> instant death
