Description: Extract a meteor fragment from within the Crater depths.

Overview: Government Quest 9-7 takes place on the third level of the Subterranean Desert. After clearing the first room, you will have to activate a timer switch in order to reach the quest's second room. In the third room, you will encounter a quicksand trap. This trap draws you towards its center. If you fall into the trap, you will be teleported to another room. In the case of the first trap, fall in so you can activate a switch to a room full of boxes and so you can talk to Ash. The next room features a sand flow that will push you to one side of the room. In the next hallway, you will encounter Bernie. After clearing the next room and talking to Montague, you will have to activate a switch to unlock the lava chamber. Before you enter the lava chamber, talk to Karen. Once you enter the chamber, be sure to watch out for the fireballs! As you proceed on from this point, you will witness a scene involving Sue and Kireek. Shortly after that, you will have to fight your way through a darkened quicksand trap room.  Immediately following this is the final room, so make sure you are well-stocked on supplies since you will not be able to set a telepipe until the room is cleared. Once all the enemies have been dispatched, collect the meteor fragment and take the warp back to Pioneer 2.

NOTE: If you finish the quest within 20 minutes, you will be able to watch a short scene involving Rupika and Leo Grahart.

About These Maps
On the maps below, the path the player should take is denoted by a red line. Doors and laser fences that are opened by pressing a button are also marked. Please note that switches are represented with circles and fences/doors with ellipsoids. Colors are used to indicate which switch opens which door/fence. Doors/fences that are opened as a result of clearing the room of enemies are not marked. Since it would be impractical to label every single box, a green box is used to denote a group of boxes. Finally, traps, including damage, confuse, slow, and shock, are denoted using a generic Damage Trap icon. Like the box icon, a single trap icon may denote multple traps.

Walkthrough
  1. If you fall down the quicksand trap, you will enter a small room. Talk to Ash and press the button. Activating the button will unlock a room containing boxes. Now take the B warp and bypass the quicksand trap.
  2. The sand flow in this room will put you to the North side of the room.
  3. Talk to Bernie.
  4. Talk to Montague and Elenor.
  5. Talk to Karen.
  6. There will be a brief scene showing Gilliam and Kireek fighting.
  7. The sand flow will put you to the East side of the room.
  8. Shortly after exiting the warp, there will be a scene involving Sue and Kireek.
  9. Be sure to stock up on supplies before entering the final room. You will not be able to use a telepipe inside of it.
  10. Once all the enemies are dead, pick up the meteor fragment, collect the items from the boxes, and take the warp back to Pioneer 2.
