Final Boss Question (Spoilers?)

Thank you for killing me over, and over, again. As soon as I figure out how to dodge one of your cheap B.S. attacks, you pull a new one out of the bag, some screen filling, blast the entire arena attack that attacks in several bursts that mean you're totally screwed if you're out of mates.

Anyone have any tips for evading some of his killer attacks? I've found I can dodge his growing purple circles on the ground by running to the edge of the arena. Any good tips for dodging the bazillion little missions he shoots from the edge of the arena, or that crazy white-ball-of-light-from-above move? I'm a newman Force, doing story mode for the first time. Is it worth equipping a shield on my pallet, just so I can block some of these? I certainly don't have trouble DEALING damage, he just keeps killing me!

The missile spam is best dodged by going right in front of him and blocking, I think. I know he hit me less when I was closest to the middle between his barrage of purple missiles.

yeah when he flies out of range and does the purple laser attack, move to the left or right of the screen to avoid getting hit by that attack, and when he does do the "screen nuke of doom to entire party" i held block and survived it, but barely. if u can survive that then heal up and since ur a newman, i would use the earth mirage blast clod impact since it does damage around 2000, or u can just cast spells at him. ur call. i just beat him 2 hours ago doing that

Here is how I dodge his attacks. I don't know the name of the skills so ill just name them w/e XD

Karate Chop: When he hits you with his gigantic arm, you should get close to him and run in circles and dodge incase. If he's not aiming for you, spam your attacks on his butt.

Bomb: he summons 2 bombs that circles around you, its best to kill those before they explode or they will kill you IF you are a Newman.

Sword up your butt: When he goes below the panel, he spread his arm and swords starts popping up from the ground. If you have Wild Blast and could survive one hit, what I do is stand still and get hit 1 or 2 times depending how many hits I can survive and heal myself before getting hit again. Basically if you get hit your Blast Gauge will increase alot so you can summon your Mirage blast and hit him again.

OP Missile: When he gets below a certain % of health, he will go to the edge of the map and spam missiles for a while. You see go to left or right edge of where he's standing.

Dark Magic Circles: He put one arm up in the air i think and summon multiple circles and anyone standing on it will be hit 50-100 dmg per millisecond but can be avoided easily if you stand at the edge. And if your range, go behind him and attack one of his wings.

Gravity Ball: when he goes below the panel, he will put both his arm in the air and a ball will be formed and slowly drag you into it, just keep running away from it and you might get hit once or none. only 200 dmg so no biggie.

Holy Light attack: He will put his arms in the air and your camera will view where his arm is and the whole screen starts to become white, he hits 3 times. First is small, second medium, and third tremendous damage. You can survive but spamming healing items or just block the whole time.

For the laser spam, the best thing is to run to the far left/right (relative to boss) and 90% will miss you.

For the final attack, guard. Face him, and guard. (The only other options are to manage a heal after the second hit, have a scape doll, or have Half Defense set, which saves you with 1 HP)

Thanks, everyone. I've managed to beat Angelus now, by guarding through his attacks. I certainly hadn't been in the habit of using the block button at all, as a Force, because Rods can't block, and I usually pair my Wands with an RCSM to build chains. So it hadn't really occured to me to block XD

On a related note, I only used a C rank Hama Bracer to block those attacks. Is there any advantage, from a defense standpoint, of pouring Extend points into shields over C rank? It seems like they block just fine at C rank, and that it's only the damage reflected that gets affected by the shield stats. Since I'm only using it to like, not die, do I need to bother extending to get access to B or A rank shields?

No, just try to get as many perfect guards as possible.
The extra defense is negligible.

In my opinion this boss is not that difficult, once you learn how to predict his attacks you should be fine, you can perform a perfect block when he use his ultimate attack on your party, another thing you can do for his ultimate attack; when he is preparing for it you should face him, block and heal, also when he use his purple barrage you can do perfect blocks to avoid most of his missiles and survive them with 60%-75% HP, to do this you must block and unblock randomly. I hope this is usefull.
