The theory regarding the beat time that is supposed to affect the rare enemies appearance has been floating around since months, but it has not been proved.

A rare monster may appear or not, but it's just a matter of real life luck, such as winning the lottery.

The only rule that applies to the "pipe-trick" is that the "pipe-trick" doesn't work online, since enemy's data is stored server side.

    Good luck.

I think I see you're problem. Try piping more than 1 guy at a time. : You can pipe 4 hildelts at a time in FoS.

This is correct. There is a certain way to get 4.
In the last room two Hidelts begin by walking around.
If you run past them to the far side of the room,
    another one will jump down.

Kill ONLY the one that jumped down. After that, a
second one will jump down from near the entrance of
the room. Again, kill ONLY that Hidelt. The two original
    Hidelts should still be alive.

After killing the second Hidelt that jumped down,
two will jump in from the sides. Leave the room,
and then start piping. Each time you pipe, you basically
quadrupled your chances of finding a Hildetorr.
This still can take a while though, but can make it
    a lot easier.

Also note: If you lost track of which Hidelt to kill,
just leave the room and pipe back in. The Hidelt that
jumps down (the ones you want to kill) will jump down again.

    Hope this helps!

After a while you can spot areas where piping would
be more beneficial than in other areas. Here are some
    suggestions for offline piping areas.

Forest Hildetorrs, the 4 Hidelts in Forest of Sorrow.

Forest Pal Rappies, Fake In Yellow runs. If you can
defeat rappies with no problem, then I would recommend
doing actual runs instead of piping. This way you get
    decent experience as well.

Caves Mil Lillies, Addicting Food. An optional room
in Caves 2 has a room with 6 lillies at the same time.

Caves Pouilly Slimes, Addicting Food. There is a room
with 2 poufuilly slimes. Split them into a total of
8 slimes, then pipe out. Repeat splitting and piping.

I have not had much experience in finding the best
places for Temple rare enemies. Just find a room that
spawns 3 or 4 at the same time and pipe there. To make
it easier, clear out other enemies that may get in
the way. Remember that Mil Lillies and Hildetorrs can
shoot Megid. Keep this in mind as you fight them,
especially Mil Lillies, as Ob Lillies can also spit Megid.

These areas work also in all difficulties. Quests are
recommended when possible since they always use the
    same variations.

Here is a link of a guide that this website has on it...http://www.pso-world.com/sections.ph...icle&artid=419

I think everything has been mentioned though, but it still might be useful.

Topic Creator - I have the same problem, I tried everything, even the beat time stuff (which I have thoguht and still think is a load of Gulgus dung); eventually I came to the realization that I'd have to trade for a God/Power, and I didn't need a Frozen Shooter anyway.

To this day, I have yet to find a Hideltorr. I'm personally glad though, I only needed 2 God/Powers, and from the picture Sounomi showed me, they look tough-as-nails.

I saw a Hildetorr on accident one time, it dropped a decent chunk of meseta, but that's all. They really aren't all that hard, you just have to avoid the Megid. I'd say the best way to do that is to simply freeze them using a Frozen Shooter or Snow Queen.

Regarding the issue of not seeing any rare enemies while piping, you should just keep going. It's all about luck, so maybe you'll get lucky some time. I wouldn't bother with the beat time theory, you'll most likely spend more time trying to figure out when to play/when to set your console's clock to than piping.
