I didn't know CB was popular enough in the West to warrant a live-action film. They probably just googled "anime" and went with that.

Don't think Johnny Depp would make a great Spike, especially after seeing him in Sweeney Todd.
Now, as far as Ghost in the Shell, clearly, Anjelina Jolie needs to the major. No, I'm not kidding (it would be hilarious!).
I'm surprised that this would be the dealbreaker for people, it's already a live action version of an animated series that is not only not being produced by the same people that made the source material, but by people in an entirely different country.
I'd say the odds of this being decent are low regardless of who they cast, even if it does end up passable, I highly doubt it could stand up to the original series.
Irrelevant. This is Hollywood we're talking about. They'd be more likely to completely rewrite the character and cast one of the Olson twins simply for face recognition.
Further... uh... that picture looks like the bastard child of Little Orphan Annie and Ronald McDonald.
Feed men, and then ask of them virtue!
Spike is awesome. That amount of awesome simply cannot be contained in a live human being. That, and it's made by hollywood. These are the same evil people that considered Efron for Light Yagami. I always thought Ledger would be the only possible actor fit for Spike, if a stretch. He's got enough swagger to fill the role. Too bad he's gone. Hugh Jackman seems a but too .. muscular for Spike. Actually. Ya know who would be awesome for Spike? Hugh Laurie.
Oh. and for Ed, I nominate
I'm going to hell for that <_<
Edit: can we un-youtube links? like. turn them into regular lookin' links?
