They are never shown as needing power cells, or the like, so this may be probable.

MMmm, maybe basic citizens, but the CAST clothing parts that mention in the flavor text being for combat or the AMF often mention photon reactors too

Androids are basically same as cyborgs. They aren't all mechnical. They are half human, half robot. Why do you think their sex is distinguishable?

That...doesn't fit though. It's stated that CASTs have a type of intelligence chip that acts as their brain, governing their thoughts and actions. Not to mention they show that CASTs are "born" with an adult body (Obviously) but they tend to have a very childlike mind. An example is the cast girl at the parum guardians branch in episode 1. She couldn't even form correct english sentences at that point. If they were simple cyborgs, they would have memory of their life before becoming a cast, right? They wouldn't need to learn everything all over again. There's also no mention of a human/newman/beast EVER becoming a cast in any of the games.

Also Luo or whatever her name was from psp1. She was more like a sentinel android, multiple copies that experience and process through a super computer.

Eiter way, perhaps they just manufactured a machine in this world that is able to break down food particles and exctract the acids and such so they can process it as a form of energy. I mean come on, they have technology that lets them throw flames from their fingers...a robot drinking a monster isn't that far of a stretch.
