This quote there might be highly close to the truth. From what we do know, Apprentice is the only Dark Falz that is still 'active' in some form, though the Profound Darkness' existence maintains all Darkers anyway.
And given that the only Darkers we've seen are insect types, not to mention those events in the episode taking place on Lilipa(more specifically in the Quarry, but even if it was Desert or Tunnels, it would still be Lilipa, which is relevant).
We know that Apprentice had the bulk of her power sealed by Claris Claes 2 AKA Matoi, and that power was sealed into Lilipa itself.
Now while Apprentice's mind is basically gone since Double ate it, and Eucrita was just a pseudo Dark Falz that wasn't even a real one to begin with, it's obvious Dark Falz Apprentice Zia in TD4 is essentially just a husk with no true mind.
But we all know that all Dark Falzes don't have just a monstrous form, big or small.
They also have a
human form.
Or rather...a human being used as a
host.
I think that the Insect Darkers are essentially trying to 'revive' Dark Falz Apprentice by seeking potential hosts on Earth.
If not hosts, they might simply be trying to collect the negative emotions and thoughts from those humans, as negative emotions are key to the Dark Falzes' power. It is how the Profound Darkness was born(an artifical replica of Xion made by the Photoners, which turned corrupted due to the Photoners' own negative emotions).
We've already seen that a Darker showed out from Last Samurai's portable console, and then Konoe had a Darker come out of her own console and capture her.
In both cases, both humans were fueled by some manner of negative emotions.
Last Samurai was basically driven by Greed to play PSO2 when he was forbidden to. (Unlike Itsuki who felt a bit more deserving to play after having accomplished the tasks Rina gave her, though he also ended up getting distracted by Aika)
Then Mika was fueled by jealousy, or Envy, toward the fact that Rina wasn't paying her a lot of attention, even less so ever since Itsuki has become part of the student council.
And in both cases, those negative emotions drew the attention of the Darkers, and while in Last Samurai's case, the Darker was unable to kidnap the human because Aika was too close, the Darker that attacked Mika had more than enough time to do the deed and bring her back to Lilipa.
And here's another detail, a potential teaser of what's coming up. Remember that Rina seems to be crying blood during one frame of the anime opening?
And if you paid attention during the action intro 'prologue' of the first episode, we didn't see SORO or RINA among the players.
Chances are that in a future episode, Rina is going to be abducted by the Darkers, or worse...she'll end up becoming the next Dark Falz Apprentice.
