Yeah, it's actually worse here if the AC breaks. The 'official' temperature isn't as high as it is out in the deserts over there in AZ, but with the humidity index, hooo boy.

Read what you write and see if you like the flow, etc. I find it fun, myself.

Ugh, I do this. So much. I've scrapped my 6th version of the next section of my story, and it's maddening. I'm "trying" to go for higher quality.

I've had to resist the urge to scrap everything up to this point and re-write it aaaaaaaaall.

....Gah, I have work soon. Good, need to get my mind off this...

all the time when I'm playing games like BlazBlue or Guilty Gear my thumb gets grinded against the D-Pad and starts to become soar or sometimes rip.

which leads to another thing, fucking May's combo's are impossible to do. like I don't even...how is that incredibly unbelievable accurate timing possible. the very same reason I gave up on playing Taokaka on BlazBlue. that absurdly acurate timing requirement to even play the character.

Why doesn't this game understand that I want eagles, or a bird, or a ostrich, or more cats and not some stupid sheep, ducks, koalas and goats *cries*. Seriously, I would kill to get Avery in my town. No, I get Frita and Pietro...thank you for nothing.

Also, pushing them into pitfall seeds and trapping them with holes might be good.

I have been hitting my villagers with the net, pushing them into pitfall seeds, ignoring them and pushing them. So far, only one has moved out, and that was the one I actually did that the least too.

But the pushing I just started today as I didn't know that makes them angry. So hoppefully that will get them to move out soon ;-;

Eh, I think all the tactics people make up to try and annoy villagers to make them move really doesn't have much of an effect, and when they do move, it's sheer coincidence. A few days ago one neighbor that called me their "best friend" wanted to move out a day later. I think it's just random chance that's rolled every morning when the day resets at 6am.

So... Mum picked up a can of my favourite potato chips today while at the store. Pringles Original, they've been my favourite since forever. But opening up the can today... It just didn't taste right. I thought maybe there was something wrong with my palate, because I had just had lunch. But it really didn't taste like it used to. I looked at the can, it didn't say anything about a change in recipe or anything - but looking at the ingredients listing I noticed that one thing had changed:
Instead of 'sodium acetate' it now simply said 'salt'. Sodium acetate was the secret ingredient! Now it's just table salt!

Was pretty saddened about it, but I thought... "I'll wait a few hours and try them again, just to make sure." And so I did, just a few minutes ago now, and... No, it just doesn't taste right! They just taste like plain salty chips that could be any brand out there! I don't even want to eat them.

So I had to admit... My favourite potato chips are no more. ;_;

Rest in peace, Pringles Original.
You will be missed.

Any white friends I have that have something to say? They just want to move past it. Any hispanic friends I have that have something to say? Overjoyed, saying if Trayvon was white it wouldn't be in the news, etc. (I'm actually really disappointed on this here :/ ) Any black friends I have that have something to say? Actually they're quite reasonable and not saying anything. Or I never added any on facebook. I don't actually know...I've only added like 20 friends on facebook.

But still. I wish people realized that trials aren't about what happened, but what can be proven. There was not enough evidence to convict. What people should be mad about is that he was legally able to just walk around in the dark with a gun like that in the first place. Second amendment aside, a lot of people who carry guns only do so because they want a reason to use them. That's a very, very real problem. Some advice you'll see passed around between certain kinds of gun owners is when you're involved in a shooting, make sure your story is the only one being told to the cops.

It is what it is. I'm more worried about the copycats that have just been inspired than Zimmerman. Zimmerman is set for life with the book deals he'll be able to get now. I can't wait for "If I Did It: Zimmerman Edition."

The saddest thing here is that the system worked exactly how it was supposed to. If there was ever a sign that the laws in Florida need to be changed, it's this.

As someone that lives relatively close to you, I can attest to the type of area it is.
I own many guns, and this is a reason I believe I should.

If people want to cite riots, because of one thing, then they're no better than the person they want dead.
Eye for an eye, which is NOT justice.
The majority of Black people want to see this guy hanged. That is not justice, that is revenge.
Making an example of someone, not to mess with them....

Anyway, gun violence or not. I have mine, and always carry, unless I'm at work. In that case, it's in the locker or car.

I say let a person come at me or my family for being White.
I have taken many self defense classes, and my job consists of being in many dangerous situations daily.
I believe I can protect myself.

Guys you have to understand that the black community is angry not just because some dude shot another dude and got away with it but because of the larger issues this case represents. Stuff like how the police does not take crime committed against black people seriously while at the same time profiling them as more likely to be committing a crime.

Self defence / stand your ground trails also have a heavy racial bias.

http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2013/07/13/stand-your-ground-laws-increases-racial-bias-in-justifiable-homicide-trials/

So a lot of them are worried about their own safety.

(weighing in on the current conversation before going into my, in the larger scheme of things, minor vent: I feel that he could have gotten jail time had this not become a race issue, but because of the pressure put on the prosecution to lean that way, they weakened their case. This gets me on the filing of the Civil Rights suit: the crux of that is proving that Zimmerman is a straight up racist, which may not work out so well since it still brings in the same doubts from the criminal case. Now if they just went for a civil wrongful-death suit there might be at least some form of guilt placed upon him because then the main point would be he is a gun-happy, psuedo-vigilante who was told by police not to leave his car, and by disobeying he put himself in the situation where he shot Martin.)

Right then; last scheduled Utterly Profound, I get killed by an arm thrust, a couple of people see me, but don't revive. I see the last arm destroyed, so I decide to just head back to campship so I can at least get the drops; as the loading screen for the campship comes up, they defeat him. Unfortunately for me, this causes my screen to turn completely white and I am unable to get down back to the battlefield to collect the loot because I can't see a damn thing. I can hear all the sound effects, but nothing shows up on the screen, no character, no menu, nothing except for the white. Fun times...

Tried baking cookies last week. They failed. After some asking around, determined that my dad had an error when he typed the recipe out, which meant I needed another cup of flour. I tried to save it by adding more flour today, but I think it was too late to work.

Went to have a piece of garlic bread loaf (bread, with garlic chunks baked into it) after work today. Before I opened it, noticed a green and black fluffy spot on it.

On my way home yesterday got stuck behind someone who thought that, on a one lane per direction road, 15-20 mph was acceptable with a speed limit of 35. Also they braked to slow down very often for no reason. Even laying on the the didn't help get them moving.
A week or two before this, I got stuck a few cars behind a tractor on the same road that also took the same turn I took. I think that moved at 15-20mph.

Even so, it's just the same drip-feed system from PSU. If PSO2 Ep2 goes anything like AotI did, you won't be seeing anything else remotely new for at least another 6 months. There at the beginning of PSO2 I thought they had learned, but evidently not. Still, back to your point, it's definitely insulting that we're barely given the time of day from them regarding a US release, despite the obvious interest evident by the heavy international presence on JP servers.

And we call ourselves "civilized". It's fucking embarrassing. There's a very large part of me that hopes our space colonization efforts fail miserably and nature one day reclaims this planet, wiping away any evidence of everything we've done. It astonishes me daily how unenlightened and unevolved our species still largely behaves.

In further enraging news, the cause of the mass death of honeybees? Pesticides and insecticides are essentially inducing something like HIV in bees, destroying their immune systems. So not only are we killing our own species with the fucking chemical shit that giants like Monsanto shove into everything to turn a profit, we're literally about to annihilate a crucial part of agriculture worldwide.

Do you have issues staying asleep once you are sleeping? Or is getting to sleep the only issue? If you have no issue staying asleep, look into Zzzquil (pharmacy, over the counter, probably right next to Nyquil/Dayquil). ZzzQuil has no medical benefits other than assisting you to get to sleep. ZzzQuil seems to work for me within 10-20mins. It comes in both liquid and capsule form (I went with liquid since it should kick in sooner).

Do you mean in a habit forming way, or that you just couldn't sleep without it? Because by the sounds of things you can't sleep now, so worst case scenario you're just back at square one.

And yes, the days will do that. It can be a struggle. Too much caffeine for one day can help, but only to a point. I guess it varies from person to person.

But when it is 3:30 AM and you have an alarm going off to wake you before somewhere between 6 AM and 7AM, to work for 8 hours, you kind of have to find something to help you sleep.

That one claims not to be habit forming. My usage of it seems to agree, as I think out of the ~16 uses the bottle has, I've only used 3 over the course of a month.

Often times the verbal duking it out is them talking it out. If anything trying to stop the argument only draws it out and makes it worse for everyone.

Some of my best friends and I have had major, major, major arguments, and as soon as the debris settled we popped into a game and had fun for a few rounds. It's just how some people operate.

I'm not sure what kinda thick skin one is supposed to have to deal with people constantly telling you to die, threatening to rape you, making detailed threats to murder your children, and acquiring your personal information and harassing you. Nobody should have to put up with that kind of bullshit, even under the anonymous circumstances of the internet.

It's this kinda shit that's pushed me to believe that these so-called "gamers," having been bullied and pushed around through school and what have you, weren't mad about these people being mean to them, they were merely jealous that they weren't the ones in the position to do the bullying.

I think it's more that instead of learning that harassing people is wrong they instead feel that if they had to be harassed then everybody deserves it as well, but yeah, it's basically the same thing.

I don't think they even think it through that far. I think they just get angry and stay angry, and then they grapple onto any opportunity to lash out, with other similarly minded people egging them on in a very disparaging positive feedback loop where the best way to be validated is to escalate something like this and try to one-up the last guy who one-upped someone else. That's why it so quickly goes from "I didn't really like the story in this game" to family death threats.

They're just a bunch of socially deficient self-loathing people who are angry at life itself, and the internet gives them a voice to let them feel like they have power over it.

Yeah, pretty much.

For what it's worth, it sounds like the writer didn't quit due to the harassment:

That's David Gaider's Tumblr. He's the lead writer for the Dragon Age Series.

It's still awful what was done to her, but it's good to hear that it wasn't the reason she decided to leave.

Yes, I'm sure a developer is going to try and turn the rape and murder threats one of its writers received into a ploy for selling more games.

Yes, that clearly makes sense and isn't an incredibly stupid thing to say.

Yes, I'm sure that saying things sarcastically makes whoever you're replying to wrong by default, since it's not not like Ninja Theory (a developer) and EA (Bioware's publisher and owner) tried doing that less than a year ago or anything, nor is quitting game development forever a new trend to whore yourself some attention these days.

I, personally, never really cared for Firefox. Peeps try to keep persuading me that it's superior, but I just don't see it. I use Chrome, and I'm a little surprised to hear you say it runs slower than IE. Is it up to date? To check, click on the three horizontal lines near the upper right corner of your screen, just below the 'close' button. From there, near the bottom of the menu that appears, click "About Google Chrome." The screen that appears next should tell you whether it's up to date or not.

Not sure what to tell you, other than that. I've liked Chrome ever since I was persuaded to try it. To each his own, though.

A good-hearted witness left a note describing what happened but unfortunately they didn't get the Dodge Ram's plate number. Said they saw it driving erratically, slammed into my truck, and sped off...so probably some drunk fuckhead. Had to have it towed because it ripped a headlight off and I wasn't going to try ripping the whole front bumper off myself...so this week I get to play phone tag with my insurance, yay.

Most cable companies I've seen offer them. They may be free, or cost only a few dollars more. Some systems allow for multiple cable boxes with one DVR, which may allow several people to watch different recordings throughout the house (may be capped at maximum number, but more than 1 is possible).

You can also make one using a computer and a TV tuner card. I would suggest dedicating a computer to this, from my understanding it wouldn't have to be the most up to date either.

Yeah, it's especially obnoxious getting sick from someone else. Even more so from someone who was making no attempt at all to shield other people from the germs.

This guy (let's call him 'Subject Zero') comes in on Tuesday, sick as a dog. All day he's coughing and sneezing and hacking all over the place, not covering his mouth or anything. Just walking around the shop and wherever, getting his germs all over other people.

By Wednesday, more of the technicians were sick, and one of the guys I work with at the parts counter was feeling 'like shit', too. At one part of the day, Subject Zero comes up to the parts counter, and starts coughing all over one of my other co-worker's computer monitor and keyboard. My co-worker took a can of Lysol disinfectant and basically sprayed him right in his goddamn face, saying "what the fuck is wrong with you?!"

One of the managers said Subject Zero was sitting in his office, talking to him about something, whilst next to the AC unit, coughing and making the germs blow around everywhere. That also netted him a "what the fuck is wrong with you?!"

By Thursday, about 80% of the entire parts and service departments were sick or starting to feel sick, myself being in the latter grouping, and now it's getting worse, but not so much worse, since I'm no dummy, and know to head this shit off before it starts. Thursday after work, I immediately went to the store and bought a bunch of extra strength cold/flu Tylenol and other things, and started downing yogurt, bananas, V8 juice, and anything else that I knew would slow it down. So, I'm not nearly as sick as everyone else, but I still feel like dick.

TL;DR: Don't be an inconsiderate fuckass and cough everywhere in public when you're sick. Take a day or two off, or wear a fuckin surgeon mask, or, oh I dunno, at least cover your mouth.

In other news: If you start talking about something and then stop, saying 'it's okay' or 'don't worry about it' and the thing you were talking about was how something bad was happening to you, or how you are upset at something, two things will happen:

1) I'm going to freaking worry about you.

2) You're going to piss me off reeeeeeeeeeeeally quick.

...So don't do it. Really. Please. Either don't talk to me about it or let me fucking help you.

Getting a cold now due to co-workers being sick, too.

Sure, like I don't have any other issues right now. No no, it's fine, pile it on!

Another pet peeve of mine. Its like their desperate to get paid that they have to bring their cold/flu to work. I wish people would use common sense to stay home if they aren't feeling well.

I'm so mad right now that I just spilled Soda all over my room keyboard and now it doesn't work. I found an old keyboard but its W & S keys are busted and won't type anything. I put the W & S key in a text doc but it feels terrible to do this way. even worse is that I accidentally did this a month ago except it was with Milk. this time was very avoidable too. =/

Heh, I know how you feel - I once spilled coffee on my laptop, and now half of the keys won't work (yes, the laptop itself is fine). Then I got drunk and couldn't find a better place to vomit than at the poor laptop again (which ended surprisingly well, considering that it was turned on).

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I have some experience with the subject. First of all, most Windows systems have an on-screen keyboard application. Just enter "osk" in the start menu or in command line, and it should start. Second: buy a slim USB keyboard and see how long it survives your clumsiness (it's been a few years, and mine is still fine), since it's probably cheaper than repairing the laptop and easier than replacing the keyboard circuits yourself.

Hope that helps.

Oh my goodness, I didn't know On-Screen Keyboard was a thing, really saved my evening there. thanks so much!!!

I've just been so clumsy recently and it been costly. my dad had to buy a new Keyboard for the living room computer(the one I spilled milk on :dead:) and I wasn't able to pick up a game I asked for that week because of that and this week I have a chance to pick it up but this keyboard mess up I thought had delayed me again.

it was so avoidable too. I had the light off and placed the cup right next to the keyboard even though I intended to watch Netflix(which is on the other side of the room.). went to have my PSP recharge next to my computer monitor and it bumped the top of the cup. causing it to spill on my keyboard and most of the desk. I then had it recharge on my bed(which I could have done in the first place.) to add to this, I had to drink warm soda. :(

Probably cost 1-2 USD to replace in case the part that holds it in or the PSP rear cover is damaged where it is, anyway for mine i still need another PSP screen, that's the 3rd one broke ugh, my bother broke it twice already, first one broke because my PS2 controller landed exactly right on top of it when it was on the ground by accident, next one will be the 4th screen replaced back in whenever i get some money to do so and a cover for it as well.

I miss the way items worked in BL1, honestly. More rares all around, and way more common from all sources. BL2's rare drop system kind of just seems...watered down. Which is strange, because I liked that system in PSO1. I guess that was the meta in PSO1, but in BL1 the meta was just blowing up everything everywhere and farming just isn't as fun as nuking a wasteland one enemy at a time.

Went to a bar last night with coworkers. The waitress didn't even know what an Old Fashioned was. When I showed her, she went asked the bar about it, 15 minutes later came back and said they couldn't make it because they don't have sugar cubes. Don't they have plain sugar? Either way, if it takes 15mins to figure out what an Old Fashioned is, I'll pass on getting one here. They also served the Magic Hat #9 in cans instead of draft or bottles.

That kinda happened to me on Wednesday. We've been doing prototype builds for 2015 model year vehicles at Ford and we had a big "kick off" dinner with all the engineering divisions that night, and the guys at the bar there were confused by a couple of cocktail names. They ended up just having to explain the mixing proportions, which was fine, but it was kinda interesting. I guess they don't have as many pages in those cocktail reference books as they used to.

One of the guys ordered a B-52 that had the main bartender a bit confused, and they also didn't know what a B.A.G. was, which is funny considering this is Kentucky and that's a bourbon cocktail. On that note, Old Fashioneds rock.

I am simultaneously terrified and entranced by the cognitive dissonance you find not in just things worthy of nightly news (i.e. more than just filler for 24 hour news), but that you find in day to day events.

It's really scary the hypocrisy people throw around without even realizing it, and it's scarier that instead of realizing there's something very wrong with their approach to things they decide to worsen matters and angrily lash out at the nearest safe target, then wait a day or two to resume exactly what they were doing/saying.

It feels like it's only gotten worse in the last few decades, too. I mean, yeah, being a kid casts the world in a different light, but everyone just seems so much angrier now. Everywhere, too. On the news, on the street, in stores, everywhere. It's more than just economic hardship that's doing it, I think. I think it's got to do with the ease of access to information. With almost everything available virtually at a glance people don't have to work to get information anymore. Actual research skills have gone the way of hardcover encyclopedias. People seem to have gotten into the habit of just taking in whatever's in front of them at face value, because after all they couldn't publish it if it wasn't true.

Hence cognitive dissonance. People loving the ACA while hating Obamacare, not realizing they're the same thing. Hence a (or all, really) news network being able to label a government shutdown as being the fault of a single party regardless of where the blame lies, and having their word just taken for it.

Shit's terrifying. Lots of people have gotten so used to information being readily accessible that when anything is presented to them they take it and run with it.

I've noticed it too, and in a lot of ways it's a new culture. Like you mentioned, information is available instantaneously now, and this leads to a couple issues. One, people get so used to not having to wait to know what they want to know that they accept the first thing they read (without reading all of it) and move along. We've become a highly impatient society as a result of ease of access. The other thing is, we now expect that luxury at all times and it gets people very pissy when that's not available. We're just really spoiled in that regard now and instantaneous info is the norm with a lot of people. I mean, sure, I own a smartphone and all that, but I try to use it to absorb as much information as possible because I have the ability to, instead of thinking 5 minutes is too long and moving on to the next thing.

The internet as we now know it has also breeded a new generation of people that make it a hobby to hate and be apathetic (while hilariously cancelling those two out in the process) because of the power of anonymity. It's so easy to hate without consequence now. This culture has kinda bled over into our media and other social aspects and the outlook isn't good. That's a bit of a side-note, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Anyway, the other terrifying thing about the reactions you described is how we also believe anything that's the "social norm", like the dislike of Obamacare. The "THANKS, OBAMA" mindset is the "in" thing now, and you can ask random people their opinions on the government shutdown, Obama, the ACA (under the Obamacare name, like you said), or what have you, and more than half of them are going to give you the "popular" answer even though they know next to nothing about the subject in reality. They hate Obamacare simply because it's "accepted" to hate Obamacare, and liking it is like disliking America or some bullshit. Nobody takes the time to read into shit anymore, from different sources.

Can't say much about people being different from before. My friends from a few dozens years ago certainly weren't as pissed off at everything as I am now, but it probably wasn't because they couldn't afford to finally purchase a decent apartment while the economy around them is crumbling, since we had bigger concerns back at kindergarten.

While informational revolution may have affected this to a degree, the real reason why you see such hypocrisies now is because you can. We (I'm projecting) have been idiots all the time, for centuries, believing what we are told without doing any research, or hating things for the same reason we defend other things with our lives. But in this day and age, most of us are given a lot more tools to filter and interpret information given to us, like, I dunno, education and internet. The bar has also been raised, though - we now swim in readily available information. Take the Zimmerman incident from whenever that happened, I forgot. Unless you were one of the participants, chances are, you've heard about either a White Power 卐 (I'm so proud of Unicode) enthusiast murdering Obama's baby, or a drug dealer clobbering an upstanding citizen. Did you care even care enough to dig for all the facts (that, as it turns out, even the court didn't have)? And that's how it is with a lot of things. Back then, years ago, we had very few sources of information, and were sure in a lot more things than we are now (I'm projecting again). Now, you hear about Assad murdering his own people with poison gas, and just going online reveals that jews and americans are digging an oil channel through Middle East. FUCK. WHAT DO I MAKE OUT OF THAT?!

And that's how it is for a lot of people, probably even you. Definitely for me, since, for another example, as much as I'm interested in space research, the "Dark Matter" theory that's simplified for masses sounds retarded, and its details are so incredibly complicated that I can't be bothered to actually learn it all and then check if it's bullshit or not. It doesn't really help that everyone is encouraged to be active participants in politics regardless of how much they know about whatever subject is hot right now.

I know I've reached the point when I solve the world's problems and reveal mysteries, but in my defense, I'm a lot more drunk than when I started typing.

When people try to bring age into an argument, like it makes any difference.

I just read a beautifully-constructed appeal and argument made by a 20-year-old woman as to why she is an atheist and denounces all forms of religion. It really was an entertaining read (a few paragraphs), and she used very vivid and intelligent verbiage to get her points across without being offensive whatsoever, despite the 'opposition', as it were, being petty and crude by calling her 'ilk', and claiming her 'hubris has blinded her'.

The best part was an older man that commented, whom had said, to paraphrase:

"Her mere 20 years of life and experience must have led her to great knowledge and to obviously have all the answers and truth of existence..."

I don't understand the beef with younger people nowadays. Well, perhaps I do, in a way. I realize that younger people, even people my age (and a bit older than me, too), have a bit of a bad reputation, as it currently stands. Us "Millennials" have gotten a bad rap for being pompous, entitled, whining, incredulous babies who want everything handed to us by the older generations. Some of those criticisms are warranted and not entirely untrue, to be sure (I know plenty of people who fit, quite snugly, into these now-stereotypical negative aspects), but to have someone who is so obviously not any of those things be potentially brought down due to her age is just pathetic.

Hell, even I get 'brought down' due to age from time to time. Whilst I may call myself an idiot when I'm feeling down, I really don't feel like I am, and, if I really am, it's not because of my age.

I won't get into the age argument, but what bothers me the most about that sorta thing is that someone felt the need to question her beliefs just because they're different from their own. If people worried about themselves a little more and focused on improving their own lives, we wouldn't have half the problems we do.
